Weight Loss Meds - Update Posted or Updated on 20 Jun 2025

You will no doubt see in the media in the coming days, the launch of prescribing of weight loss medication – tirzeptide (Mountjaro) in a phased approach, commencing 23^rd June 2025 by NHS England.

 Although this announcement has been made, the appropriate arrangements within Kent and Medway ICB are not yet in place. Therefore, no one across the ICB area is able to prescribe this drug for this indication.

 Once the relevant arrangements have been completed by the ICB, any roll out will be on a phased basis which will be strictly controlled against the National criteria and this drug will not be the appropriate one for all those potentially eligible, there will remain many other options.
