Changes at Shorne Surgery - end of walk in surgery from September 2019
Posted on 27 Mar 2020
Change to appointments system at Shorne Surgery: End of walk in morning surgery.
You will be aware that for many years Shorne Surgery has operated a walk in surgery each morning, between 08.30 and 10.30. There are also booked appointments in the afternoons on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week.
The latest NHS specification for General Practice (2019) now requires practices to offer online booking*, and also make available appointments to other NHS agencies for urgent booking. Regrettably these new requirements cannot be met with the existing appointment system, and so after much debate the partners have now reached the conclusion that change is necessary.
Therefore, from Monday 2nd September 2019, a bookable appointment system will be introduced to replace the current walk in service. Phone lines will be open from 0830 to book appointments on the day.
Please be assured, there will be no cut in the overall number of appointments. Attendance at the walk in surgery and booked appointments has been monitored over several years, and the new system will provide equivalent access to patients.
There will be an information evening at Shorne Surgery at 6pm on Thursday 1st August, at which there will be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
* Sign up for online booking via the buttons on the home page of the website or in the branch.
