For patients over 65 or those recommended to have the vaccination by the Department of Health due to an underlying medical condition or those in receipt of Carer's Allowance:

Istead Rise - Saturday 8th October 2011 - from 9 am to 12 midday - no appointment necessary

Shorne - Saturday 15th October 2011 - from 9 am to 11 am - no appointment necessary

Summerhouse - during the week - commencing after 18th October. Contact the surgery nearer the time.

Please note these dates are staggered to ensure delivery of the vaccine as we cannot store the number of doses required to do everyone in one go!

Patient Participation Group (Added July 2011.)

The Practice is setting up a new Patient Group, who will be working alongside us to help develop/improve services. The first meeting was held on 20th July at Istead Rise Surgery, with represetatives from all three surgeries and a guest speaker from the Primary Care Trust to set the scene and provide guidance.

More news of the group will follow as it develops, but in the meantime, if you would be interested in being part of it, or want to be kept informed as it develops, please e mail ppg.dwmp@nhs.net

0844 call charges. (Added July 2011.)

Queries have been asked about our 0844 number for Istead Rise and Shorne. Is it a PREMIUM rate number? No it isn't - nor has it ever been. If it was, we wouldn't be using it.

What does it cost? Our supplier has had to ensure that the system complies with the requirements set out in the approval document from the Department of Health. This states that a call cannot cost more than a local call on the equivalent BT standard tariff. This has been confirmed and has been indepedently verified by the Primary Care Trust.

Some patients have arrangements with their utility supplier for free local calls. 0844 numbers will fall outside these arrangements, but unfortunately, that is a matter between the patient and their supplier, not a responsibility of the practice.

 Practice expansion (Updated July 2011.)

On 31st July 2010, Downs Way Medical Practice merged with Summerhouse Medical Practice, Beaconsfield Road, Bexley.

Summerhouse medical Practice will now be known as Downs Way Medical Practice, Summerhouse Surgery and will be a branch of Downs Way.

Full integration of the surgery is now complete, patients should continue to contact their normal surgery.
